Politecnico di Torino is a Research University focused on the balanced development of fundamental and applied research.

Politecnico attracts students from more than 1 hundred countries, with a total of about 36 thousand enrollments in bachelor and master’s degrees. At present, the teaching staff consists of about 1 thousand professors.

The Departments of Politecnico di Torino coordinate research in four macro-areas: Industrial Engineering; IT; Management for Engineering; Civil and Environmental Engineering, Architecture and Industrial Design. Within the Industrial Engineering, the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering (DIMEAS) is the reference in Politecnico for the areas of knowledge related to the mechanical fields.

Contribution to Fatigue4Light

Politecnico di Torino contributes to the Fatigue4Light project with advanced statistical methods to analyse fatigue data, by performing very rapid (ultrasonic) fatigue tests up to 108 cycles and, finally, by carrying out X-ray Micro-Tomography analyses to assess defect population in specimens and demonstrators.
