Fatigue4Light project presented to the COMPOSITES Conference
Partners from CIMNE, the Fatigue4Light coordinator, presented the project during COMPOSITES 2023, the 9th ECCOMAS Thematic Conference on the Mechanical Response of Composites celebrated from 12th – 14th of September in Trapani (Sicily, Italy).
Alireza Taherzadeh Fard, PhD Candidate from CIMNE, participated in the conference delivering the presentation titled “On the numerical study of debonding in laminated composites through a homogenization theory”, which introduces a new formulation for modelling delamination processes in composites done within the Fatigue4Light project. The formulation presented is especially interesting since it does not require explicit representation of the layer interfaces while ensuring minimal loss of accuracy as compared to CZM. The formulation is very promising for tackling delamination on larger scales such as components.
The COMPOSITES Conference was focused mainly on theoretical and numerical modelling and prediction of the performance of composite components, also covering experimental validation and challenging industrial applications or recent developments.
