Presentation of Fatigue4Light-research papers during the VHCF8 conference
Fatigue4Light partners Davide Salvatore Paolino and Andrea Tridello, from the Politecnico di Torino, have presented the project in two sessions held within the 8th International Conference on Very High Cycle Fatigue (VHCF8), celebrated online last 8th of July.
During the keynote session 7, Davide Salvatore Paolino presented the paper “Statistical size-effects in components subjected to VHCF”, which introduces the risk-volume concept, its relevance and its application, as well as a brief explanation about the VHCF life.
On the other hand, Andrea Tridello has participated in the Additively Manufactured Materials and presented the work “A new statistical software for the estimation of P-S-N curves in VHCF”, based on Fatigue4Light work and introducing concepts such as fatigue from defects, marginal P-S-N, conditional P-S-N and fatigue limit among others.
The VHCF International Conference has provided a worldwide platform for scientific discussion and communication, as well as different activities for all those interested in the fundamental and practical applications of the Very High Cycle Fatigue concept. The event presented different lectures by outstanding international scientists and other oral presentations.
Politecnico di Torino is contributing to the Fatigue4Light project with advanced statistical methods to analyse fatigue data, by performing very rapid (ultrasonic) fatigue tests up to 108 cycles and, finally, by carrying out X-ray Micro-Tomography analyses to assess defect population in specimens and demonstrators.
