Fatigue4Light project presented during the CompTest Conference
Sergi Parareda, project partner and researcher at the Metallic and Ceramic Materials Unit of Eurecat, participated in the 11th International Conference on Composite Testing and Model Identification (CompTest) hosted by the University of Girona from May 31st – June 2nd in Girona (Spain).
During the session focused on fatigue, he delivered the presentation “Assessment of mode I fatigue delamination of composites through a rapid testing method”, which presents a new testing procedure based on the damage evolution in the fatigue specimen developed for metallic materials. The work was also contributed by Daniel Casellas, scientific director from Eurecat, and Jordi Llobet, Jordi Renart, Josep Costa and Albert Turon, researchers from the AMADE Research Group of the University of Girona.
In addition, the presentation included a mention of Fatigue4Light as a key European project boosting the use of lightweight materials in electric vehicles’ chassis and working on the development of new tests and computer simulation methods to better estimate the fatigue life of chassis components and to select the optimal materials for lighter vehicle chassis.
CompTest is a series of conferences, focused on the main topics within testing and model identification for structural fibre-reinforced composites, which brings together academics and industrial communities working on modelling and characterization of composite materials and structures.
